Some notes on Process at Filmhub
- Building a simple, lightweight process is critical to getting work done fast.
- It allows you to focus on the creative parts of your work rather than the project management aspects.
- Understanding process drives alignment and clear roles & responsibilities
- Good process must be documented, findable and easy to understand.
- If process docs are good, someone can pick up your docs and understand the workflow you follow instantly.
- With good documented process, when you are out of the office, assigning a task to someone else is extremely simple and requires little to no education.
- We build asset supply chain software. To optimize a supply chain, you must have the full chain mapped out end to end and then can figure out where the issues are to fix.
- We need strong upfront alignment in our product development process because we have many stakeholders: producers, channnels, content ops teams, etc. and we need to capture all of their requirements before we build so that we don’t break something.
- You can’t optimize what you don’t measure. If you don’t have tracking on your process, you can’t measure/improve it.
- Start with BARE minimum process and be ULTRA discerning when adding a new step. Every new step complicates the process and makes it less likely to be followed.
